Another great Minden Day has come and gone, and with it the sad truth that Suffolk Regiment soldiers are getting fewer in number.
Suffolk Regiment ties were for the first I can remember, in the minority with Royal Anglian ones being far more widely seen. Few Suffolk men marched on Parade either, a sad realisation that the youngest Suffolk soldier to have worn the cap badge would have been a sprightly 82 years old, but it was great to be tapped on the shoulder and to turn around to see Cecil Deller, veteran of 1/Suffolk in NW Europe, who made the journey to be there.
At almost 97 years young, he would have been the oldest Suffolk Regiment soldier in attendance.
